In January 2020, I took my first bikepacking trip across Florida to connect with rural communities. But it wasn’t until my cross-country journey from Florida to Louisiana and back in 2021 that I fully grasped the depth of political and social divisions within America – between communities, neighbors, and even families. The toxicity was undeniable.

Every person I spoke with expressed concern about these divisions. Yet despite the alarm, they also shared a common hope: a willingness to volunteer for community healing. They talked about neighborhood BBQs, community gardens, food donations for the poor – simple, meaningful acts that in international development, we call Community Action.

After a long career in humanitarian work overseas, I launched PeaceBridge Solutions in March 2025 to foster Community Action across North America and beyond.

Riding for Peace is one step on that journey. It’s a personal and public commitment to help restore the social health of our communities – one mile, one story, and one connection at a time.
